Ew.

There are some things I will not post a picture of when I talk about it. One of those things is fecies. EEEEEEEW.

A few nights ago I encountered a disgusting puddle of pee on the floor of the men's room. Also scattered around were a bunch of paper towels. The smell was awful. I ran from the room and breathed a sigh of relief. I donned my mask and gloves and went to work flooding the bathroom with disinfectant.

GROSS.

GROSS.

GROSS.

There, I fixed it.

The other day I served a table that had two little boys. One of the kids had a little cut on his knee that had opened up again. He was sitting in his chair being sad and holding a napkin on his cut. I smiled sweetly and asked if he wanted a band-aid. He shyly knodded.

Interestingly... I bought Marvel Comic Super Hero band-aids at the dollar store. We only had two left... Captain America! That kid was so excited. Turned out he needed three, though. I grabbed the other box of band-aids and let him choose his favorite color. He was so excited. He picked blue. His little brother felt left out, so I let him choose one too.

When I went to clean up their table after they left, I found a blue band-aid on the back of a chair. Hee hee. Children.

Popcorn

One day I went to work feeling in the mood for popcorn. I bought a small box of the stuff to take with me and to share with everyone.
Too bad I wasn't used to the microwave... I burned a hole in the bag and burned half the popcorn. It smelled wonderful. :P I had to throw the whole bag in the sink 'cause it was smoking like crazy.

Mop-top

Sooooo the mop that I use is separate from what the waiters/waitresses use in the kitchen. There are several reasons for this. The kitchen gets hella dirty from food and grease. Then the mop gets hella dirty and becomes un-cleanable. And... they are super rough on the mops and break them constantly.

Recently they broke the last mop and had to start using mine. I asked my boss to order a new mop. She was alright with it, but it wasn't gonna come for a week and a half. Great. The bathrooms have white tile. For the last week they've been a dull grey, no matter what I did to them.

Today, the shiny new mop came. It felt like Christmas!

Nobody touch my mop!

Before and after.

Tables get dirty. That is a fact of life. You can sanitize them all you want, but there will always be that layer of clean dirt that doesn't do any harm except turn the table a funny color.

So, every so often, we clean the tables with degreaser.

Looks clean, right? This is before I cleaned it.

Here's what the rag looked like. Notice the white on the left side. That part didn't touch the table. The right side did... hee hee.

Went in to the men's bathroom to clean one night and found this in front of the urinal. Can someone please explain?

Clean up on aisle... kitchen.

Apparently when a lot of stoneware plates fall on to tile, it sounds like an avalanche. For real.

Sometimes Scary

My husband has some friends who rent out the apartments that are under the restaurant. They're awesome guys, and a lot of fun. When we started cleaning the restaurant back in November, they weren't aware. Well, one of them at least. See, he's a truck driver, and not always in town.

One night we were doing our rounds. I heard a noise down the stairs and went to investigate. It was one of Mark's friend, and he'd been drinking. It's not a bad thing, really. He's a lot of fun. But, if you scare him, he'll come. And he did. With his gun.

Yeah that was scary, but the other guy got to him, too. No worries. It was all good. Just part of life cleaning the restaurant. :]

TP Suga'

Sorry for lack of updates. The computer was out of commission for a bit. Bleh. But, it has returned!

We went to clean the restaurant. I always seem to find some awesome surprises. This time, I found sweetner on the MEN'S bathroom toiletpaper dispenser.

Week Review

Well, things are winding down after that car fiasco. We got ourselves a beautiful 2004 Toyota Camry. Sadly, we had to sell our Dodge Stratus. When we went to get our stuff out of it... we found out how dirty that car was. I didn't realize how bad it had gotten. ha ha. So many reciepts, empty soda bottles, and wrappers. So fun. The car dudes said we could leave it messy. I still felt bad...

The night after we got the new car, we went to clean the restaurant and found a little pair of shorts. Ha ha! Some little boy went pantsless! I laughed for ten minutes. It was good to relieve stress. :)

A few days later I got the coolest tip ever at work.

It's a ten dollar bill shaped like a heart with a quarter in it! AHHHH so cool. I felt special.

MEDIC!

I had an adventure while cleaning the restaurant last night.

The restrooms have air fresheners that get changed every couple of months. I guess they got changed yesterday, because when I walked in to the women's restroom I almost passed out. The smell was awful! It was so strong, I could feel it in my lungs. It was almost like Vick's Vapo Rub, but with a hint of poo. Yuck.

I propped the door open with the wet floor sign so I could breathe.

When that wasn't enough, I used a mask. I felt sexy.

Sadly, as I was cleaning, I slipped and hit my hand on the door. For some reason, I hit it just right to make my thumb bleed. It was owwie. :(

It's okay, though. My husband kissed it better and I got a Wolverine band-aid. :D

After we finished cleaning, we went home and had soup and corn muffins with hot chocolate. Yay! <3

The end!

Sticky nastyness.

I went to work at the restaurant yesterday. You know, like I do almost every day. Something always seems to be breaking. This time it was the soda machine.

The Dr. Pepper pump went caput. What you see to your left is the syrup for the machine, extremely sticky and thick and bleck.

Guess who had to clean it up? MEEEE! :D

How to end the year.

It's another normal day (okay, night). My husband and I were going over to the restaurant to do the cleaning at 11pm. The restaurant closes at 9pm... yet all of the lights were still on. We also noticed there was a limo in the parking lot. Confused, I called my boss.

Apparently there were customers who were there, she said. She also told me it was okay to go over there to clean. So we packed up and went.

A nice woman and an older gentleman were the only ones left. They were just leaving, actually. They were very polite, saying that the woman's son had thrown up in the restroom. My boss was very gracious, and told them to have a good evening. The woman said, "It was great to see you again." before she left.

"Who was that?" I asked the minute the door closed.

My boss smiled. "That was Larry King's wife."

I paused for a moment. "Okay, wait... Larry King? THE Larry King?"

She nodded.

I laughed. "Well okay then!"

So yeah, my husband and I cleaned the restaurant, both thinking about how incredibly random it was to have Shawn King there. Apparently she and her family have eaten there before. Bahahaha! I was flabbergasted.

Yeah, if that wasn't enough shock, the men's room was so awesomely gross. Mrs. King had managed to clean up most of the nastyness, but there was still plenty of aftershock. The kid had managed to get his barf on the floor, the walls, the toilet, the toilet paper dispenser, the stall door, and even in the next stall over. It was pink... and sticky. Ha ha! My first reaction was, "Gah!". My husband said, "I gotta see this" and ran over to see. His second reaction was, "I need a drink." "Me too!" I said. I got some Dr. Pepper, and he got some rootbeer. We toasted our weird life, and drank deeply.

It was awesome.

Christmas

Merry Christmas!

My house is surrounded by kitties. They live off of the dumpster food from the restaurant. Apparently, they also live off of what people leave me for Christmas!
A friend of mine left cookies on my doorstep. I was excited to find this out. It made me feel special. Sadly, the cats got to them first. I came home to a mangled paper plate and torn up aluminum foil. It made me sad.
Oh well. Tis the season!!!!!

The Black Hole

Sometimes when I'm at work, there are absolutely no customers. My boss wants us to constantly be doing something. We usually clean stuffs. I chose to clean out the black hole under one of the counters.

It was full of treasure! I found soufle cups, portion cups, nasy old lemon wedges, a blob of old honey butter, a missing lid that was certainly needed, and a whole lot of crums. It was special. I even documented it.

Memories

I didn't get to clean Steph's house yesterday. She said I wasn't needed. I felt sad about this, but moved on. Ha ha.

I did clean the restaurant, as I usually do, with my husband. Apparently some people don't know how to not throw their garbage on the ground. I found so many straw wrappers, I could have made an entire tree. Or when parent's let their kids have the basket of crackers. I swear no cracker is consumed, just crunched up and thrown on the ground.

That remindes me of when I was serving a table of fifteen a few years ago (it happened to be April Fool's Day). The parents of a two year old weren't paying any attention to her. She was running all around me while I was trying to pass out drinks. I had one drink left on my tray when she ran right in to me, causing me to tip the tray. Dr. Pepper and ice dumped all over the little girl's head. She froze in her tracks, absolutely stunned. I was shocked. I wanted to laugh so much, but I didn't want to offend my customers.

The entire table errupted with laughter. The girl's mom picked her up and started to wipe her down with a napkin, laughing in the process. I relaxed and cleaned up the random ice on the ground. The only person mad at me was my boss.

Yeah, I'll never forget that mess. It was hilarious!

The bigger the stall...

Mark and I clean the restaurant that we live by every night after it closes. I usually clean the bathrooms. I've come to discover that the stall that's the worst to clean is the handicapped stall. I don't know why. I'm not saying it's because handicapped people have anything to do with it. I know for a fact that my boss prefers the extra space.

It's just... I can't believe the things I see sometimes. People tend to miss the toilet! I mean, come on! I had to scrub nastyness off of the back of the toilet, and off of the wall. Yes, the wall. Ick ick ick. I told my husband. He was speechless, giving me a funny look. Finally he said, "I need a drink", and proceeded to get some rootbeer. I just laughed. He's so silly.
